The Grammy-nominated album Memphis Blood: The Sun Sessions (Hyena, 2001) introduced Blood Ulmer the Bluesman. Produced by Vernon Reid of Living Colour and recorded at Sun Studios in Memphis, Memphis Blood brought Ulmer back to his Southern roots to interpret such classic blues songs as "Death Letter" (Son House), "Little Red Rooster" (Howlin' Wolf), and "I Just Want To Make Love To You" (Muddy Waters).
