Detailed Purpose of Fundraiser:
HelpingAmerica.org decided to go beyond our mission and directly help Hurricane Katrina victims with a late fundraiser due to the lack of response of other disaster relief organizations. In response to this, we have appointed Amy, who is our Chief Coordinator of Relief Operations and a resident of the New Orleans Area. Amy, as a health care provider and resident, has witnessed the lack of support by many disaster relief organizations. Your participation in this event will help support victims where Amy will be distributing any funds we raise at this event in New Orleans.

Valley's own film fest competes with best

By JOHN BARRY

Five days, one city, one town, many movies and much music. From Sept. 28 through last Sunday, the Hudson Valley was exploding with the arts and culture. From films and music staged by the Woodstock Film Festival to various concerts, this five-day stretch offered many reasons why so many people love living in the area and why so many other people travel here to be stimulated on a cultural level.

Here are the highlights:

# Kicking off the film festival Wednesday was a concert at the Bearsville theater featuring the drummer and bass player for the 1990s band Living Colour. Joining them was keyboard player Bernie Worrell, the subject of a film festival documentary. The rhythm section sounded like a cross between a NASA spaceship and an octopus playing drums. Worrell looked like a shaman who had just stepped out of Willie Wonka's Chocolate Factory.

Vernon Reid guitar pick contest (repost)

this post was taken from the yahoo group SACRED GROUND; basically, if you or anyone that you know bought a numbered/signed Vernon Reid pick from the Collideoscope tour please read cafefully!!!

*The deadline is being extended until Monday, October 10 @ Midnight
Eastern Time (Sunday night, to be specific...)

Hello All,

I've just gotten off the phone with Vernon. We had a conversation regarding the signed picks that were sold in 2003 and that we never had a contest because of the illegibility of the list.

Well, that's all about to change!

If you (or someone that you know) has purchased the pick AND can send me (off-list) a (clear, meaning signature and number MUST be legible; no exceptions! This is how we'll verify ownership.) JPEG of the pick with your name, email and shipping information, Vernon will randomly pick three entries.

The first place will receive one of Vernon's personal effects pedals (autographed), in working condition. The second and third place will receive an autographed promo CD.

Note: The pedal and CD choice will be made by Vernon.

As we plan on doing this again in the near future (with a better registration method), we are going to set the deadline for this contest for Sept.30, 2005 at 11:00 PM Eastern Time. Any submissions after that will not be accepted. The winners will be notified via email within the following week.

SO... Go dig out those picks and make it happen!!!

Best of luck to ya!!!

Peace, Diamond

lc blog note, if you do not wish to join the sacred ground group to contact Dennis, i can forward any jpeg to Dennis himself and cc you as well
